Thank you Jules for articulating this so beautifully. Through my own experience and that of others, I have observed that healing from trauma often seems to be a catalyst for spiritual awakening. Your article helps me understand this as I had previously not fully understood that when we experience trauma, the psyche dissociates not only to protect life but also to protect our soul, our divine essence. So it makes sense that as we heal from trauma and start to experience feeling safe (perhaps for the first time), we are able to recover the sacred parts of ourselves!
